THE TURKISH GOVERNOR OF PALESTINE, DJEMAL PASHA, COMMANDED THE TURKISH FORCE THAT ATTACKED THE BRITISH ON THE SUEZ CANAL, WROTE "I can have no greater duty than to offer a respectful tribute to these heroes...In this force, composed of men of Arab and Turkish stock, a fine feeling of brotherly afection prevailed. this first campaign against the Canal was a brilliant revelation of the fact that the majority of the Arabs stood by the Khalifate with heart and soul. The Arabs, who composed the entire 25th division and the whole of the L. of C. Organization, did their duty with the greatest zeal and devotion."
