What can you see in Israel, after seeing Israel?

2008-12-22

As one tourist said, looking at the map of Israel, and seeing how tiny it is: "OK, in the morning we are going to sightsee Israel, how are we going to spend the afternoon?"

Jerusalem, the holly places for the three monotheistic religions, see of Gallilea, and all the beautiful places on the usual tour of 6-7 days – let me suggest some other things happening in this surprising country.

There are about 200 wineries in this country, many of them boutique wineries. You can visit them, taste, hear their stories, and you will find that there is high quality wine in Israel.

Desert: Some of the wineries are in the desert.

You can visit, after arranging the visit, Sdeh-Boker. This is a branch of the Beer-Sheva university, doing research on all aspects of living in the desert.

Many of the research programs have been applied and are being used in practice. you can see the fish raising center, yes, Israel is raising fish in the desert! You can see the solar center of research, the agricultural center, the research center of raising algae, and the water research center.      You can visit fish farms, and see how the used water of the fish is reused to water olive trees, producing tasty olive oil.

In Kiriat Gat you can, after arrangements, visit Neveh Hannah. This unique boarding school, housing and educating children up to 18 years, from a state which gave them no chance, to useful citizens. The internate is run on the guidelines of the famous Janosh Korchak.

You can hike on the Jesustrail, go in the footsteps of Jesus, in the Gallilea.

You can hike on the Israeltrail, or part of it, it goes from the very north to the southern tip of the country.

If you are a birdlover, you can come in spring or fall, when some 55 Million migrating birds cross the country from north to south or the other way, and watch them. In Haifa you can visit the Gefen center. A cultural center, where Moslems, Christians and Jews work together.

You can visit "SACH", the name meaning Save A Childs Heart. This organization is bringing children from the third world (many Palestinians) with heart disease, giving them the needed surgery, and sending them back home.

These are just a few appetizers. This small country is so full with interesting places and events – one morning is by far not enough! You just have to tailor cut your visit to your goals. This you can do with almost every tour guide here.

   Enjoy it!

Maybe. It's an interesting option, and we should try it. The price is lower, for sure. - 25% / 92 Votes
